Unless I receive a huge amount of complaints, the GMOS
("General MIDI OS for GUS") and PUGD ("PC UNIX GUS Driver") lists will
be deleted in the next couple of days. The only traffic that has been
on either of these lists for the past month is subscribe/unsubscribe
requests.
If you'd like to continue the discussions of these topics,
please move them to the GUS Digest or the GUS-SDK Digest. (I'd
suggest the GUS-SDK Digest, since both of these projects are still in
the creation phase.)

As you may already know, the GMOS and PUGD lists are going to
be shut down in the next couple of days, due to lack of use.
Should I shut down the GUS-OS2 list as well?
The only discussions going over that list of late have been:
1] "Are the OS/2 drivers out yet?"
2] "OS/2 vs. DOS vs. Windows NT vs. (ad nauseum)"
3] "Unsubscribe me"
Topic #1 can be well covered on the GUS Digest, topic #2 has
no place on any of the GUS lists (that's an order from the moderator,
folks... namely *me*), and topic #3 is because people haven't been
paying attention on where to send requests.
I'd just assume get rid of it. Any complaints from the masses?

Thanks to all those who responded. I have been tearing my hair out, I'll let you
know how I get on.

Since i only have the beta SDK (plus the low level one) i cant deal easily
with the new patches, so i decided to try to use Ultramid. It is very
straightforward (it only adds 20-40 lines to my total source), but i have a
little problem (well maybe a few).
I can load the patches, but when i issue a change of program, ultramid will
still play the piano. If i load the percussions and send notes to ultramid
on channel 10, all the percs will play. So what am i missing, here?
Also, ultramid has it's limitations (particularly since people need to get
gusail to use the software and it only load patches in 8 bit). So i'd much
prefer using functions like there was in the beta SDK. Are these available
in an updated package? Is the code fast enough to work on a 8086? (my code
is not really an issue here). Last, what is the proposed Gravis sysex set?
If there is none (GM excepted), is it because suggestions are needed?
Cause i'll be implementing a full implementation, including patch dumps
(with the midi wave sysex dump), modifications to patches (tuning etc...) and
a few other things. This will have a release date in 93, with the full
interface published, so it would be better if it was in accordance with the
Gravis sysex set. Including BANK SWITCHING.
Ciao,
